Pipelaying works Moat Road Ballymena
21 February 2025 13:31
Our contractor CivCo will commence work next week to install a new stormwater sewer on a section of Moat Road and Casement Street, Ballymena.
Work will get underway adjacent to the Edward Street junction on Monday 24th February and will continue along Moat Road onto Casement Street. A section of pipeline will be laid on Casement Street, extending a short distance into the alleyway beside Harryville Primary School, where it will connect into the existing stormwater manhole.
To carry out the work in the safest possible manner, a lane closure with traffic lights will be in place around any working area on Moat Road and Casement Street. For the last section of work, a short section of the pedestrian path adjacent to the primary school will be closed to facilitate the work. We expect this final element will be undertaken at the end of the project towards the end of March/beginning of April.
The essential work – which will take around 6 weeks to complete - will remove storm (rain) water from this part of the combined wastewater system to help reduce the risk of out-of-sewer flooding in the area and provide increased capacity in the network.
NI Water and our project team from AtkinsRéalis and CivCo thank residents, businesses and the wider public for their patience and cooperation while we undertake this essential work to deliver environmental improvements and help support new development. We assure you that we will strive to keep disruption to a minimum and complete the work in the shortest possible timeframe.
