#hereeveryonematters - our diversity tagline reflects our commitment to EDI. NIW became the second public sector organisation to achieve the Silver Diversity charter mark and the first NI company to sign up to the Levelling-Up pledge, prioritising social mobility and equality of opportunity.
As a large public sector employer with headquarters in the heart of the Westland estate in North Belfast, recently named the most socially deprived area in NI, we take our social responsibility seriously. Via a prolific Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy NIW is leaving things better than we found them, contributing to the long-term sustainability of our environment, society and the communities we serve.
Sisters IN
SistersIN is a charity that pairs female sixth form pupils (mentees) with senior managers / directors (mentors) across a range of businesses and organisations. We choose to focus on STEM leaders here at NIW and ask that we can pair our leaders with girls from socially deprived areas, we use this chance to encourage the mentees to strive for success and raise awareness around the different educational pathways available to them that they may not have known about previously. Our mentors from 2024 were:
Angela Halpenny (L3) – Head of Environment Regulation
Roisin Connor (L3) – Head of Capital Procurement
Carol Hall (L4) – F&R Senior Business Partner
