Essential Work Leathemstown Reservoir, Lisburn
01 July 2016 16:52
NI Water has detected falling water levels at Leathemstown Reservoir Lisburn. The reservoir has been out of service since 2007 so there will be no impact on customer water supplies.
The reservoir will need to be nearly empty before staff can attempt to enter the tower to carry out an inspection.Stewart Walsh, NI Water, explains:
“While this will have no impact on customers’ water supply and the reservoir is not presently leased for fishing, members of the public may have concerns regarding fish stocks. We are working with our colleagues in NIEA and Inland Fisheries to attempt to remove fish and release them to a local watercourse.
“A build-up of silt has made it difficult for staff to access the site to determine the cause of the dropping water levels. However, once this has been established, NI Water will work to remedy the problem.”
