Flood Alleviation Project Gets Underway at Foyle Springs, L’Derry

13 May 2016 16:19

NI Water would like to announce that work will commence on Phase 2 of the Foyle Springs Flood Alleviation Project from the week commencing 23rd May 2016. This is the second phase of this major Flood Alleviation Project and represents a further investment of £250,000 by NI Water to reduce the risk of flooding within the Foyle Springs area of L’Derry. The work will be carried out by our appointed contractor Geda Construction and it is anticipated that the work will take approximately 4 months to complete.

Phase 1 which involved the laying of a new sewer from Springvale Park through Liscannor Park, Kenmore Park to Killary Road was completed in Summer 2015.

Phase 2 will involve the construction of an off-line storage tank in the Springvale Park and Northland Road area.

The work will take place within the landscaped area between Springvale Park and Northland Road. There will be no traffic control in place, but parking and access to Springvale Park will be restricted to residents only. Access to the site will be via Springvale Park, which means that there may be some minor disruption at times during initial site establishment and when materials are delivered to the site.

While the majority of the work will be carried out during normal working hours: 8.00am – 6.00pm, it may be necessary on occasions for work to be completed outside of these hours.

NI Water would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation while we carry out this essential work and would like to assure customers that we will do everything we can to complete the work as soon as practicably possible. Customer queries should be directed to Waterline on 03457 440088.
