Watermains Improvement Work gets underway in Mount Merrion area, Belfast
15 January 2016 15:32
An ongoing Water Mains Improvement Programme across Belfast and Carrickfergus was recently announced at an approximate investment of £10.9 million. As part of this programme, work is now underway in the Mountmerrion area of South-East Belfast. It is estimated that work in this area will take approximately 5 months to complete. Affected streets include; Burren Way, Mount Merrion Avenue, Coonen Way, South Bank, North Bank, Grillagh Way, Sheskin Way, Kilbroney Bend and The Straight.
This project is good news for the local area as the new watermains will improve the quality, reliability and security of the local water supply, while reducing leakage and improving pressure in the area.
Traffic management and signage will be in place as necessary, and local access for residents will be maintained at all times.
NI Water and our contractor Farrans Construction would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation and will do everything we can to reduce disruption as much as possible. We will continue to work closely with stakeholders in the area including the Kingspan Rugby Stadium and Translink to ensure that public transport services function with minimum disruption.
