Emergency Repair Work Dee Street - Ongoing Storm Sewer Improvement Work Mersey Street

NI Water wish to advise the public of emergency repair work required at Dee Street, as part of our ongoing Sewer Improvement Work at Mersey Street.
A manhole in very poor condition has been discovered in Dee Street, and urgently needs rebuilt. In order to safely replace this manhole it will be necessary to close Dee Street between Severn Street and the Sydenham Road roundabout. Following detailed consultation with Transport NI and the PSNI this road closure is now planned to be in place from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th of November. A specialist traffic management company will implement the road closure and manage the diversion routes. These diversion routes have also been agreed in consultation with Transport NI.
NI Water fully appreciates the traffic implications of closing this section of Dee Street, however the works are essential to urgently repair the manhole and ensure the future structural safety of the road.
It is anticipated that the overall programme of works on the Mersey Street project (not the Dee Street closure) will be completed by December 2015. Once complete, this essential programme of work will improve the sewerage infrastructure in the local area and will reduce the risk of flooding.
