Music in Silent Valley this Summer!

03 July 2015 15:56

All blues and general music aficionados are invited to NI Water’s ‘Music in the Park’ event on Sunday 12 July from 2-5pm, at Silent Valley Mountain Park, Kilkeel.

The event, organised by NI Water to attract visitors to the picturesque Mourne site, will host the fabulous Booze Brothers band, with their wide range of musical styles to suit all tastes and occasions, including rock, Irish, blues and pop!

To celebrate the centenary of the birth of ‘Ol’ Blue Eyes’, Frank Sinatra, the band will also perform a special tribute to him, one the greatest musical artists of all time.

Anna Marshall, organiser of the event, comments:

“This is the fourth year we have held a ‘Music in the Park’ event in Silent Valley and due to its resounding success in previous years, we have brought the event back for summer 2015, with two dates: one on 12 July and one on Sunday 30 August to round off the summer holidays.

“The event will be very much about relaxation; there is no better way to enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon than sitting back and appreciating the scenery while being serenaded.

“Many spectators at previous events have simply relaxed with their family, picnicked and enjoyed the sweet sounds of the music. In keeping with the Sinatra celebration, do it your way!

‘‘This year, we also have the magical talents of well-known local magician Paul Gomac to astound and amaze, as well as a face painter to bring your childrens’ imagination to life.

“We look forward to welcoming back many familiar faces and hopefully some first time visitors to Silent Valley.”

On Sunday 30 August, we will welcome the Darragh Folk Band to our second ‘Music in the Park’ event of this year, as well as the usual retinue of family fun.
