Essential Flood Alleviation Scheme Planned for Foyle Springs Area – L’Derry

NI Water is scheduled to commence an essential £830K programme of work to upgrade the sewerage infrastructure and reduce the risk of flooding in the Foyle Springs area of the city.Phase 1 will involve laying a new sewer pipeline and manholes from Springvale Park through Liscannor Park, Kenmore Park to Killary Road. We anticipate that work will get underway in April 2015 and will continue for approximately 5 months.
Phase 2 involves the construction of a large underground storage tank and associated pipework in the grass verge at Springvale Park. We anticipate that work will start on site in September 2015, subject to statutory approvals and funding availability, and will last approximately 8 months.
In consultation with local representatives, NI Water has arranged a meeting to allow local residents and their representatives to raise any concerns they may have with the project team regarding the Phase 1 pipelaying work. Details are as follows:

As with all schemes of this nature, there will be an element of disruption. However, we will endeavour to reduce disruption and minimise the impact of our works on the local community.
