Lurgan Road Closure: Part of B12 Lurgan/Cornakinnegar Road
09 February 2015 12:06
NI Water is currently undertaking pipelaying works in the Lurgan area as part of the £14 million Castor Bay to Belfast Water Trunk Main Scheme, an extensive project that will safeguard water quality and improve the security of supply for customers in the area.We would like to advise the public that pipelaying works will continue on the B12 Lurgan/Cornakinnegar Road, with a closure now required on a section of the road, commencing on 16 February 2015.
NI Water has endeavoured to complete pipelaying on the Lurgan/Cornakinnegar Road using traffic lights to manage traffic flow as much as possible. This has been possible where the road is wide enough to safely accommodate the pipelaying squad. However, in order to safely complete the laying of the pipeline and to install the large-scale connection detail at the junction of Colane Road, a road closure will now be in place on a 1400 metre section of the road from Monday 16 February 2015 to Sunday 15 March 2015. Signage and traffic management will be in place as necessary.
For the first part the road, which will be closed from Colane Road to Whitehall Road, the diversion will be via Whitehall Road with traffic diverted via the B12 Aghalee Road, C10 Brankinstown Road, B156 Derrymore Road and B156 Whitehall Road.
For the second part, the road will be closed from Whitehall Road to Leansmount Road between 6.30pm to 7.00am nightly. The diversion will be via the B12 Aghalee Road, B105 Soldierstown Road, B105 Chestnut Hill Road, B105 Station Road, A3 Main Street Moira, A3 Lurgan Road, A3 Belfast Road, A3 Avenue Road, A3 High Street, A3 Church Place, B12 North Street and B12 Cornakinnegar Road.
Access will be maintained at all times for residents living along Cornakinnegar Road but please be aware that residents may experience some slight delays in accessing their property as the pipelaying work passes the front of their house. We will strive to keep any disruption to a minimum and complete the work in the shortest timescale possible.
Martin Gillen, NI Water's Project Manager, said: ''NI Water and our contractor, Lagan Construction Group, would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation while we complete this essential improvement work, which will safeguard the long-term security of water supply for our customers. The road closure will allow our contractor to complete the work in a much shorter timescale than originally planned.
'Letter drops will be completed in the local area and customers with any concerns are encouraged to contact the Waterline number on 08457 440088.
