Kennedy Welcomes New £2.5m Wastewater Treatment Works for Donaghmore

NI Water is pleased to announce that work has recently got underway on a new Wastewater Treatment Works at Donaghmore, County Tyrone. The existing works in the village has now reached capacity and will be replaced with a new £2.5m state of the art facility at the existing site on the Mullaghmore Road.
 
Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy said: “This is an important programme of work, involving significant financial investment by NI Water. I welcome the news that work is about to get underway, as the new plant will improve the wastewater infrastructure for NI Water customers and accommodate future growth and development in the area.
 
Derek Eccles, NI Water’s Project Manager added:
 
“NI Water is pleased to start work on this essential scheme, which involves the construction of a new treatment plant for the Donaghmore area.
 
“The new plant will substantially increase the capacity for wastewater treatment in the area and will greatly improve the river water quality in the River Torrent. The scheme will also provide a welcome boost to the local construction industry with local company Lagan Construction Group being awarded this significant contract”
 
It is anticipated that the new plant will be operational in the spring of 2015. NI Water and our contractor Lagan Construction Group would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation while we complete this essential scheme and will make every effort to keep disruption to a minimum throughout the contract.
