Essential Watermains Improvement Work Gets Underway on Quilly Road, Mullaghbawn

NI Water is currently engaged in an ongoing process of improving and upgrading the water supply infrastructure throughout Northern Ireland. This work is good news for customers, as the upgraded water mains will improve the water quality, reliability and security of the local water supply, while reducing leakage and improving pressure in the area.

Approximately £350,000 has been invested to lay a new 5km watermain on the Quilly Road, Mullaghbawn. It is anticipated that work will continue until November 2014. Signage and traffic management will be in place at all times and we would like to thank the public for their patience while we complete this essential programme of work.

Maurice Crawford NI Water Project Manager said:

“The scale of the ongoing watermains project has required extensive work on local roads. However, where possible, we will use state of the art low-dig technology throughout this programme of work, which will enable us to lay the majority of the mains without the need to open large trenches.

“Customers in the Quilly Road/Carrive Road area will undoubtedly benefit from the improved drinking water quality, reliability and security of their water supply, as well as the environmental benefits, such as reducing leakage.

“NI Water will, in co-operation with the Department for Regional Development, do everything possible to keep any disruption to a minimum. We will also work with Translink to ensure that public transport services function with minimum disruption.”
