NI Water has announced a decrease in their charges for the second year in a row. Following on from last year’s 2.5% drop in charges for non-domestic customers, the company have confirmed that from April 1st this year their charges will reduce by, on average, a further 4%.Welcoming the announcement, NI Water Director of Finance & Regulation, Ronan Larkin said:
“This is excellent news for our customers particularly coming at a time when many are experiencing difficult financial times. In real terms, taking into account inflation, this further reduction means that our non-domestic customers will be paying 11.7% less for their water and sewerage services than they did two years ago.
“As a business ourselves we realise the importance of keeping costs down and we hope that for our thousands of non-domestic customers including farmers, small businesses and industry this reduction in charges will be good news.
“The charges for the 2014/15 year have been agreed by the Utility Regulator in conjunction with the Consumer Council for Northern Ireland (CCNI).
“Leaflets will be mailed to approximately 90,000 non-domestic customers to notify them of the forthcoming pricing changes and specifically, how they will be applied.
“Anyone with questions or concerns about the Scheme of Charges can phone our Billing Enquiries Team on 08458 770030.”
NI Water is required to annually review the charges levied for water and sewerage charges and agree them with the Utility Regulator in order that customers pay the fairest rate for the water and sewerage services they receive.
The new charges, to be reflected in bills from April 2014, follow the Utility Regulator’s decision on the prices NI Water should charge customers between 2013-15.
The full Scheme of Charges is available on NI Water’s website at http://www.niwater.com/non-domestic-charges/and outlines changes for measured (customers with a meter) and unmeasured (customers without meters) charges.
Advertisements outlining the changes are also being carried in daily newspapers. For further information, customers can contact NI Water’s Billing Enquiries team on 0845 877 0030 or online at http://www.niwater.com/non-domestic-charges/
