Water Mains Programme Continues in the Westland Road area of Belfast

09 July 2013 14:56

As part of NI Water’s on-going work under the Water Mains Rehabilitation Framework in the North Belfast area, work will shortly commence on the Westland Road to replace a section of watermain which supplies the Cavehill Fire Station. The scheme will commence on Monday 15th July 2013 and will continue until Thursday 18th July.

The water main will require a road closure along the Westland Road between the Old Westland Road junction to the Cavehill Road. In an effort to minimise disruption, NI Water’s contractor Farrans Construction will complete this work over the traditional contractor holiday period, when traffic flows are lighter and schools are finished for the summer break.

Finally, NI Water would also like to remind parents and young people about the dangers of playing near our Construction Sites in the area. We would ask parents and young people to continue to be vigilant at all times, so everyone can enjoy the summer holidays safely.

NI Water and our contractor Farrans Construction would like to thank the public in advance for their patience and cooperation while we complete this essential improvement work. Diversions will be in place but will be clearly signposted. There may be increased traffic in the area which will result in some disruption while this work takes place, but we would like to assure customers that every effort will be made to keep it to a minimum.

Customer queries regarding this work should be directed to Waterline on 08457 440088, quoting: “Farrans Construction Watermains Rehabilitation Programme”.
