25 June 2013 15:56
NI Water would like to remind customers that sewer investigation work in Sicily Park and the surrounding areas will continue until the end of July 2013. This first phase of work is an important stage in the short-term flood alleviation scheme for the area. This work represents an investment of £100,000 to improve the existing sewerage infrastructure in the area and reduce the risk of flooding. This work will also assist Engineers in developing the medium and long term infrastructure solutions required for the area.
David McGrath, Engineering Procurement Engineer with NI Water, explained:
“NI Water teams have been working steadily behind the scenes to develop short, medium and long term projects to reduce the likelihood of flooding within the Finaghy/Upper Lisburn Road area.
“There will be some traffic management arrangements in place, and NI Water and our contractor Deane Public Works would like to thank the residents for their patience while this essential work is carried out.”
Signage will be in place detailing traffic management arrangements as required, and any customer queries should be directed to Waterline: 08457 440088. Please quote “Deane Public Works, Sicily Park Flood Alleviation Scheme”
Finally, NI Water would also like to remind parents and young people about the dangers of playing near our Construction Sites throughout South Belfast. We would ask parents and young people to continue to be vigilant at all times, so everyone can enjoy the summer holidays safely.
