NI Water Opens Doors as part of Positive Ageing Month

NI Water recently organised two events at its Belfast Wastewater Heritage Centre as part of a packed programme of events and activities happening across the city to mark Positive Ageing Month.
The NI Water ‘The Marvel of Cleaning Water’ themed events offered participants an opportunity to follow the journey of water from source to tap and learn more about what everyone can do to keep the water supply flowing by only flushing the 3 Ps – pee, poo and paper.
The free events were also an opportunity for NI Water to share information about the utility company’s customer care register which is an additional service NI Water offers for anyone who needs an extra bit of help as the weather starts to turn colder.
NI Water education officer Anna Killen said: “It was a great joy to see the Positive Ageing Month festival return to Belfast for its ninth year and to be part of the celebrations. It was the perfect opportunity for NI Water to welcome older residents to our Belfast wastewater heritage centre to learn more about the work that goes on behind the scenes to keep everyone’s water safe and free flowing and also to learn more about NI Water’s Customer Care Register.
“NI Water’s Customer Care Register is there to help anyone who is worried about the cold weather and feels that some extra help would be beneficial to them. Perhaps it’s a neighbour, or someone you know who is elderly or someone who perhaps has a medical condition or any other vulnerability.
“Some of the benefits includes a doorstep service, a password scheme to help you identify our staff, help to receive bottled water if there is a water outage, a contact service for anyone who is carer, a priority flooding response service in case you experience flooding, and also a free text alert service which offers information about water interruptions. Customers can register by contacting us on our Waterline phone number 0345 440088 or online via www.niwater.com/customer-care.register or go to www.niwater.com/register[1]for-keeping-you-informed to find out more.”
Some of the benefits of joining the NI Water customer care register include:
