NI Water Appeals for Safety at Silent Valley

25 October 2024 11:01

Silent Valley Safety | NI Water News

In light of land slippage on the Lower Loop Nature trail at Silent Valley, NI Water is appealing to the public to continue to adhere to the signage and barriers erected around the affected area for their personal safety.

A large land slippage on a portion of the Lower Loop trail has created a significant safety hazard, and as a result of this, the affected area has been closed. Although the Upper Loop trail is still accessible, fencing has been erected to prevent access to the damaged area. The area is being closely monitored to identify further slippages. Repairs will be significant and costly due to challenging ground conditions and limited accessibility; therefore, the route may be closed for some time until a solution is identified.

The safety of visitors is paramount and extensive fencing and signage has been erected to prevent unauthorised access to the area.

The Lower Loop Nature trail can still be partially accessed but only up to the fencing.

NI Water thanks the public for their patience and cooperation as we consider a permanent solution to the issue. The Silent Valley Dam and Ben Crom Reservoir are both open and accessible to the public as usual, as are other trails in the park.
