Pipelaying for new housing continues in Ballyclare

NI Water is continuing with the installation of a new 700m-long pumping main in Ballyclare with work due to start on Jubilee Road week commencing 4^th December.

The new wastewater infrastructure is being installed to serve a development of over 200 houses in the town.

Commenting on the next phases of work and associated traffic management, NI Water Project Manager, Stephanie McBride said: “Work is due to get underway around the entrance to Hansons Hall Park (off Jubilee Road) week commencing 4^th December 2023 and will progress along Jubilee Road towards the roundabout. The work will be carried out between 07.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday with traffic management in place to maintain the flow of traffic. Work on Jubilee Road is expected to take around three weeks to complete and access for residents will be maintained at all times.

“Once the section on Jubilee Road has been completed, our contractor will carry out pipelaying across the roundabout area onto Templepatrick Road. This work will need to be carried out at night due to the high volume of daytime traffic. Depending on progress on Jubilee Road, the night-time work may not commence until after the contractor’s Christmas break.

“To undertake the night-time works safely, it will be necessary to have traffic lights in operation on the four lanes of the roundabout between 7pm and 6am each night. The roadway will be fully reinstated and the traffic lights removed each night to facilitate daytime traffic flows. Once on Templepatrick Road, pipelaying will revert to daytime working hours under a lane closure as before, with access maintained for businesses and residents. Road users should allow extra time for their journeys during all sections of this essential work.

“NI Water and our project team from Atkins Réalis and CivCo thank local residents, businesses and the wider public for their patience and cooperation while we work to install essential infrastructure to serve new housing in the Ballyclare area. Every effort will be taken to minimise disruption and compete the work as quickly as possible.”
