£7 Million Flood Alleviation Project Continues– One Way Road Closure Ravenhill Road

Work is currently underway on NI Water’s £7 Million Flood Alleviation Project, which will benefit the Ravenhill Avenue area of South Belfast.

This essential infrastructure project involves the upgrade of existing and installation of new sewers along a section of Ravenhill Avenue and the surrounding streets. It is being undertaken to reduce the risk of internal and external ‘out of sewer’ flooding, and when complete will increase the capacity of the sewerage system in this area of South Belfast.

Works are currently taking place on the Ravenhill Road, to divert a large diameter watermain and are due to be completed in mid-April. 

Following completion of work on the Ravenhill Road, construction works will progress on to Ravenhill Avenue, where various phases of work will be undertaken over the next 21 months. In order to safely complete these works, a road closure will be in place throughout this time.

The road will be closed in short sections for each phase; however, there will be no through traffic between Ravenhill Avenue and Cregagh Road. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses throughout, but will only be possible from either end of the works location. Pedestrian access will remain available at all times.

For the safety of the public and construction workers, there will be no parking in the vicinity of the construction works.
