Killylea Road, Wastewater Pumping Station - Final Section of Work on Irish Street

NI Water will soon commence the final section of this major project to upgrade the sewerage infrastructure in the west of Armagh City. The project, which represents an investment of £1.4 Million by NI Water, commenced in May 2019 and included the construction of a new Wastewater Pumping Station at Killylea Road.This work is now substantially compete, with a final section of sewer relining to be completed.
This section will commence on Irish Street on Monday 22nd June and will take one day to complete.
In order to undertake these works safely, it will be necessary to have a one-way closure on Irish Street (country bound). This will be in place between the junctions of Slip Road North (St. Malachys Link Road) and Ogle Street. A diversion route will be in place during this time, and will be clearly signposted on site.
In order to minimise disruption to residents, businesses and commuters as far as possible, this work will be undertaken outside of peak hours, between 9.30am and 4.00pm
Vehicular access for local residents and businesses will be maintained as far as possible during the road closure, with pedestrian access available at all times. Parking restrictions will be in place around the working area.
NI Water has been identified as an essential service provider in response to COVID-19 and the Government has officially designated our workforce as ‘key workers’ in a critical public service.
NI Water and our contractor BSG Civil Engineering appreciate that this work is disruptive and would like to thank the public for their continued patience as we complete these essential improvement works.

• Do not let children go near work sites or equipment, this can be extremely dangerous.
