Work gets Underway - Brompton & Stricklands Replacement Wastewater Pumping Stations

 | NI Water News

NI Water is due to commence work on a £4m programme of work to replace the ageing wastewater pumping stations at Brompton Road and Stricklands Glen as part of the latest phase of a wider multi-million-pound investment to improve water quality along the North Down coast. The scheme, which will get underway in April, will also involve the upgrade of the associated sewerage network to help prevent out-of-sewer flooding in the future.

Some preliminary work has recently been undertaken to prepare the sites for construction and in agreement with Ards and North Down Borough Council, the coastal path will temporarily be diverted away from both sites for health and safety reasons.

When complete, this project will provide additional stormwater storage during periods of heavy rain, reduce the likelihood of out of sewer flooding and improve the bathing water quality along the North Down coastline.

A letter drop will take place in the local area – in lieu of a planned public information event - to advise affected residents of this work and signage will also be in place as the work progresses. Further information on the project is available at:  https://www.niwater.com/major-infrastructure-investments/

NI Water and our contractor BSG Civil Engineering will endeavour to minimise disruption as far as possible throughout these works, and would like to take this opportunity to thank local residents and the wider public in advance for their patience and co-operation as we undertake these essential sewerage improvement works.
