NI Water to commence Sewer Upgrades in Main Street, Dundrum

14 January 2019 12:25

Public Information – Drop in Session 23rd January 2019

NI Water will shortly commence work on this major programme of work to upgrade the sewerage infrastructure in the area of Main Street, Dundrum. This work, which represents an overall investment of £4.2M, will include the upgrade of sewers and replacement of two existing Wastewater Pumping Stations, and will be undertaken in a number of phases over the next 2-3 years.

The first phase of work is programmed to commence in mid-February 2019 and will involve the installation of 2km of new sewers between the existing Dundrum Wastewater Treatment works and School Road.

In order to minimise disruption as far as possible to residents, businesses and commuters in the area, NI Water will be working in partnership with Phoenix Gas to install both services at the same time.

As with all works of this nature, some level of disruption should be expected. Temporary traffic management arrangements will be in operation on the Main Street throughout the works. However, we will endeavor to minimise this are far as possible.

As part of the preparations for this scheme, NI Water would like to invite the public along to a ‘drop-in’ information event, where residents, business owners and the public are welcome to come along to find out more about the overall project.

Date: Wednesday 23rd January 2019

Time:  4pm to 7pm – please feel free to drop in at any stage during this period

Location: St. Donard’s Parochial Hall, Main Street, Dundrum

We would like to take this opportunity to provide the public with more detailed information on proposals and timings for this phase, and further phases of this significant project within the area. Members of the NI Water project team along with representative from our contractor BSG Civil Engineering will be available at any stage between 4pm to 7pm to discuss the scheme in further detail and address any concerns you may have.

NI Water would like to thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation whilst we prepare to commence this essential improvement work. We assure you that we will do everything that we can to keep all future disruption to a minimum.

Once all phases of the project are complete, this investment will significantly reduce the risk of out of sewer flooding and environmental pollution in this part of the sewerage network during periods of heavy rainfall.

NI Water would like to thank the residents, businesses and the public for their ongoing patience and co-operation as we complete this essential repair work.

ENDS.
