Information Event: Sewer Improvement Work – Ormeau Avenue/Dublin Road Area, Belfast
23 November 2017 10:13
NI Water is pleased to announce that we are investing approximately £5 million to improve the sewerage infrastructure in the Ormeau area in 2017/2018, which will include Ormeau Avenue, Dublin Road, Bruce Street, Sandy Row and sections of the lower Ormeau Road. Once complete, this investment will significantly reduce the risk of pollution to the environment and out of sewer flooding in this part of the sewerage network during periods of heavy rainfall.
Subject to the necessary approvals, we anticipate that work will get underway in December 2017 and will continue for approximately 16 months. Initial works will be ‘off road’ to comply with the Christmas Embargo.
As with all work of this nature, there will be significant traffic disruption in the area, which will include lane closures at various locations as the work progresses. There will also be a reduction of parking availability within car parks in certain areas. Signage and traffic management will be in place as the work progresses.
As part of the preparations for this scheme, NI Water would like to invite the public and their elected representatives along to a ‘drop-in’ information event to find out more about the overall project:
Date: Tuesday 5 December 2017
Time: 2pm - 7pm – please feel free to drop in at any stage during this period
Location: The Clayton Hotel – Olympic 3, 1st floor Academy Conference Centre
22 Ormeau Avenue,
Belfast, BT2 8HS
We would like to take this opportunity to provide the public with more detailed information on proposals and timings for this significant project within the area. Members of the NI Water project team, along with representatives from our contractor Dawson Wams will be available at any stage between 2pm and 7pm on the day to discuss the scheme in further detail and address any concerns you may have.
NI Water would like to thank the public in advance for your patience and cooperation whilst we prepare to commence this essential improvement work. We assure you that we will do everything that we can to keep all future disruption to a minimum.
ENDS.
