Sewerage Improvement Work gets underway - Killylea Road, Armagh

As part of the essential upgrade of the city’s sewerage infrastructure, NI Water has commenced a Sewerage Improvement Scheme on the Killylea Road, Armagh. These works will involve the construction of a new sewerage pumping main from the existing Wastewater Pumping Station on the Killylea Road to the Friary Road. This work will help improve the sewerage infrastructure, reduce the risk of flooding and bring environmental improvements to the area such as improving the water quality in local water courses.

 

Detailed traffic arrangements have been discussed with the Department for Infrastructure to try to minimise the impact of these works. In order for the work to be carried out safely and protect the safety of the public, road users and construction workers, it will be necessary to have a temporary lane closure in place for the duration of the works.  During this time, two- way traffic flow will be maintained by the use of temporary traffic lights or stop/go boards.

 

NI Water is committed to minimising the disruption caused by the complex construction issues associated with this new pumping main in a major arterial road into Armagh City, whilst also considering the health and safety of the residents along the route of the sewer. To minimise the impact of the works as far as possible, the working hours will be 9.30am – 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
