New Sewer Installation gets Underway – Armagh Road, Portadown
26 October 2017 12:19
NI Water, through our appointed contractor Conwell Contracts Ltd, will commence sewer-laying works on the Armagh Road, Portadown on Friday 27th October 2017.
The proposed construction work will involve laying approximately 117m of sewer pipe on Armagh Road and 186m in Inglewood Lodge to serve a new housing development.
Detailed traffic arrangements have been discussed with the Department for Infrastructure to try to minimise the impact of these works on residents, road users and the public.
In order to carry out the work safely it will be necessary to have a temporary lane closure on a section of A27 Armagh Road, Portadown. This will be in place from Mahon Hall care home, Armagh Road, Portadown towards Inglewood Drive. Two-way traffic will be maintained with the use of temporary traffic signals. Vehicular access will be maintained for residents as far as possible but may be subject to a slight delay, pedestrian access will be available at all times. There will be no parking within the working area for the duration of the works.
Initial works on the Armagh Road will be undertaken from 27th October to 12th November, between 8.00am and 6.00pm. This will allow as much of the work as possible to be completed during the school mid-term break when traffic volumes are reduced.
Subsequent to this, work on the Armagh Road will continue during ‘off-peak’ hours to minimise disruption to road users and the public. This is to allow the work on this arterial route to be completed before the Christmas Embargo. NI Water will endeavour to ensure the noise levels are minimised as far as possible during these ‘off-peak’ works.
Once all works on the Armagh road are completed, construction works will move into Inglewood Lodge for a further 8 weeks, where normal working hours will be 8.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday; however, it may be necessary at times for work to be carried out outside of these hours.
NI Water would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation and will do everything we can to reduce disruption while we complete these essential works. Customer queries should be directed to Waterline on 03457 440088.
ENDS.
