University Street/Fitzroy Avenue Storm Sewer Project
29 September 2017 9:51
NI Water, through our appointed contractor Conwell Contracts Ltd, will commence sewer laying works in the University Street area of Belfast on Monday 2 October.
The proposed construction works involve laying approximately 210 metres of 150mm storm sewer along University Street/Dudley Street onto Fitzroy Avenue, with the sewer being laid to serve a new residential development.
Detailed traffic arrangements have been discussed with the Department for Infrastructure to try to minimise the impact of these works on residents, road users and the public.
In order to carry out the work safely, it will be necessary to have a temporary one-way road closure on University Street at the commencement of the works; this will be in place for up to four weeks. During this time, there will be no access to University Street from the Ormeau Road end; normal access will be available from the Botanic Avenue end.
Following the completion of the work on University Street, work there will be a road closure on Dudley Street for approximately two weeks, followed by a road closure on Fitzroy Avenue for two weeks.
Appropriate signage will be put in place, and diversion routes will be clearly signposted. Vehicular access will be maintained for residents as far as possible but may be subject to a slight delay; pedestrian access will be available at all times. There will be no parking within the working area for the duration of the works.
Normal working hours will be 8am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday; however, it may be necessary at times for work to be carried out outside of these hours.
NI Water would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation. Every effort will be made to reduce disruption while these essential works are completed. Customer queries should be directed to Waterline on 03457 440088.
