Flood Alleviation Scheme Gets Underway – Old Antrim Road, Ballymena

28 April 2017 10:45

NI Water will commence work to upgrade the existing sewer on the Old Antrim Road during the week commencing 1st May 2017. It is anticipated that this work will take approximately 6 weeks to complete.

The proposed construction work will involve laying a section of sewer and associated manholes, which will improve the sewerage infrastructure and reduce the risk of out of sewer flooding in the area.

Detailed traffic arrangements have been discussed with Transport NI to try to minimise the impact of these works on residents, road users and the public. In order to carry out the work safely it will be necessary to have a temporary lane closure on the Old Antrim Road during the work and two-way traffic will be maintained with the use of temporary traffic lights. However, in order to complete the work as quickly as possible a full road closure will be in place for one week from the 8th May 2017 and two-way traffic will not be maintained during this week only. Vehicular access will be maintained for residents where possible and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

Normal working hours will be 8.00am to 5.00pm; however it may be necessary on occasions for the work to be undertaken outside of these hours.

NI Water and our contractor AG Wilson would like to thank the public for their patience while we complete this essential improvement work. We will do everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum and ensure the work is completed as soon as practicably possible.
