It was all ‘flow’ at Silent Valley last weekend as NI Water invited everyone to step into spring as part of its’ tenth anniversary celebrations!

In co-operation with Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and the Mourne Mountains Landscape Partnership, NI Water hosted the latest of the now well-established family fun days at the beautiful Silent Valley Mountain Park near Kilkeel.

As NI Water marks ten years delivering what matters for the whole community, this spring’s Silent Valley event acted as a lively curtain raiser to NI Water’s programme of events to mark its’ tenth anniversary – the company was established in its’ current form in April 2007 to deliver water and wastewater services in Northern Ireland.

Anna Killen of NI Water, who organised the event, said: ‘‘Once again, our ‘Step into Spring’ event at Silent Valley has been a major success, with over 1,500 people flocking to the Valley to enjoy a lovely Sunday afternoon in a relaxed, family friendly environment. There really is no better way to kick off our tenth anniversary celebrations than by inviting everyone to join us for a great, family friendly day out in beautiful surroundings.

‘‘We are always delighted to welcome visitors old and new to Silent Valley, our beautiful jewel in the heart of the Kingdom of Mourne. As always, there was plenty to keep all ages entertained, with swing music from the Swingabellas, children’s entertainers Babcock and Bobbin, historical re-enactors, fun and games, climbing walls, and an artisan food market, and much, much more besides.’’

‘‘We are extremely grateful to both Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and the Mourne Mountains Landscape Partnership for their assistance and support with the planning of the event, and we look forward to working with them again at Silent Valley in the future.

‘‘As many people will know all too well, Silent Valley is a wonderful place to visit, but it doesn’t have to be a family fun day; the park is open all year round and we encourage everyone to stop by and see what our beautiful mountain park has to offer; you won’t be disappointed. From breath-taking scenery to unique industrial heritage, with ample walks for all abilities, it really is worth stepping out in the Valley this spring!’’
