Ecclesville Road Pipelaying, Fintona - Traffic Management Update
19 December 2016 15:44
NI Water will be continuing with its programme of pipelaying on the B122 Ecclesville Road, Fintona in the New Year as part of a £700,000 investment to upgrade the local water supply network. To facilitate this second phase of pipelaying in the safest possible manner, the Ecclesville Road will be closed to through traffic between Fintona and Fivemiletown week commencing Monday 9th January 2017 for a period of approximately six weeks.
The road will be closed weekdays from 8am until 5pm and reopened at weekends. Access will be maintained for residents of Ecclesville Road and for other motorists a diversion route along the Tattymoyle Road and Clabby Road will be signposted.
The road will also be reopened 24th – 26th January to accommodate motorists travelling to the Spring Farm Machinery Show in the Ecclesville Centre, Fintona.
Martin Gillen, NI Water’s Project Manager for the scheme commented: “The new pipeline and pumping station upgrade which is being carried out in the Syonfin area will improve the security of supply for local customers and help protect against freeze/thaw events in future winter months.
“NI Water and our contractor GEDA Construction understand that projects of this nature can be disruptive and we greatly appreciate the patience and understanding of the residents of Ecclesville Road and the wider local community as we work to deliver this essential new infrastructure.
“We will strive to minimise disruption and are pleased to be able to reopen the road to accommodate motorists travelling between Fivemiletown and Fintona to attend the Spring Farm Show.”
The third and final section of pipelaying on the Ecclesville Road which is being undertaken as part of this contract will be carried out under a lane closure between mid-February and mid-March.
