NI Water – Health, the Economy & the Environment
05 December 2016 15:34
NI Water has today received the Utility Regulator’s published Cost & Performance Report for the 2015/16 year. This is the first year of the six year plan to March 2021.
Commenting on the report, Ronan Larkin NI Water Director of Finance & Regulation said,“Northern Ireland Water plays an important role in supporting health, safeguarding the environment and investing to support a strong regional economy here in Northern Ireland.
“The necessary investment, determined by the Utility Regulator, has been underfunded during this 2015/16 year and into the second year of the six year price control. There is an opportunity to deliver required service improvements and efficiencies through capital investment in water and wastewater assets, if the underfunding can be addressed in the four years from 2017/18 onwards.
“We are working with our shareholder the Department for Infrastructure, the Utility Regulator and our other stakeholders to assess how funding can be secured and services for customers today and for customers into the future can be maintained and improved.
“We have been leading the challenge on doing more for customers with fewer resources and are pleased that this report reflects our best ever levels of service at a continuing lower cost for customers. The report and our good results reflects the hard work of the Northern Ireland Water workforce.”ENDS
