NI Water Storm Sewer: Sloan Street, Dungannon - Update

NI Water held a Public Information event on Tuesday 4th October in Ranfurly House, Dungannon on this proposed storm sewer project.

This gave residents, traders and key stakeholders an opportunity to express their concerns regarding the proposed works, specifically in relation to the proposed timing of these works.

NI Water is pleased to announce that following further consultation with the developer of the new housing development and TransportNI regarding re-programming of the scheme, it is now possible to postpone the project until after Christmas.

Grahame Millar Project Sponsor said:   “Where possible, NI Water always try to accommodate and meet the needs of the public and traders when planning major schemes.  On this occasion, thanks to the support from the developer and all our stakeholders, we have been able to do so.

“This is a good example of NI Water working closely with the local business community and other government bodies and stakeholders to reach a positive outcome.”

This is good news for the local traders as it will mean that no road works will commence until after the busy Christmas period.

Work will now commence on 4th January 2016 at the bottom of Barrack Street and progress towards Scotch Street, along George Street and up Sloan Street to the new development. We anticipate the work will take approximately 10 weeks to complete. Further updates will be available in advance of the work.

NI Water and our contractor Quinn Automatic would like to thank the local businesses and wider community for their input at the recent information meeting and hope that this decision will address the many concerns raised.
