NI Water to begin commissioning of new Blackrock Pumping Station in Ballymartin

NI Water will shortly begin the final connections and commissioning work on a new pumping station at Annalong Road, Blackrock in Ballymartin.
 
The facility is part of a £1.2m investment by NI Water which has already seen the construction and operation of a new pumping station in Ballymartin village and the laying of new pipelines between Blackrock and Ballymartin. The overall scheme will collect wastewater from the Blackrock and Ballymartin areas and transfer it to Kilkeel for treatment. The new infrastructure will bring about environmental benefits in the area and will accommodate future development in the village for the next 20 years.
 
To facilitate pipeline connections and commissioning work at Blackrock in the safest possible manner, temporary lane closures will be implemented with automated traffic lights on a short section of the Annalong Road around the location of the new pumping station.
 
A lane closure will be in place from Monday 12th September until Friday 17th September for pipeline connections. A further short lane closure will be sought at a later date to allow the electrical contractor to complete work at the pumping station.
 
NI Water and our contractor BSG Civil Engineering would like to thank the public in advance for their patience and co-operation while we work to bring this essential sewerage infrastructure into service.
 
As commissioning work gets underway on this important scheme, we would appeal to the community, particularly children and young people, to “stay safe” around any working areas. NI Water and BSG Civil Engineering would ask for the support of everyone to ensure that young people do not play in or around the construction sites or machinery.
