Sewer Improvement Work to Get Underway in Ladybrook, Belfast

NI Water is pleased to announce that an essential sewer improvement programme is about to commence in the Ladybrook area of West Belfast on Monday 5th March 2012. Approximately £550,000 will be invested in this programme of work, which will last approximately 8 months.

A lot of the current sewerage infrastructure is beginning to deteriorate, causing pipes to collapse and increasing the risk of out of sewer flooding in the area. Therefore, it is essential that this work to replace the pipes is completed as soon as possible.

When complete, the project will improve the local sewerage infrastructure and wastewater services in the area. The majority of this work will also be completed using trenchless or “low dig” underground technology, which is less disruptive for the local community and environmentally friendly, using less waste material in the process.

Before this work gets underway, NI Water will be holding an information event for the public on Friday 24th February, 3-7pm at St Michael’s Parish Centre, Finaghy Road North. This will be an opportunity for the residents affected to call in at any stage and get further information on the scheme.
