Greyabbey Flood Alleviation Scheme

Work is now well underway on NI Water’s Greyabbey Flood Alleviation scheme. The majority of the work will be completed in sections along the Main Street in the village. The entire project, which involves a £1 million investment to upgrade the sewerage infrastructure in the village and improvement work at Greyabbey Wastewater Treatment Works will be completed by Autumn 2012.

When complete, the project will improve the local sewerage infrastructure and wastewater services in the area. The project will also reduce the risk of flooding in the village and will improve the water quality in Strangford Lough.

As with all work of this nature, there will be an element of disruption and there will be another temporary closure required along the Main Street in Greyabbey on Sunday 22nd January from 6am – 2pm.

All traffic diversions will be clearly signposted and NI Water and its contractor, BSG Ltd, would like to thank the public and local businesses in advance for their patience and cooperation, and assure them that we will do everything we can to complete this essential work as quickly as possible.

NI Water would also like to remind the public that all businesses in Greyabbey Village will be opened for business as usual.
