Rosslea Phase One Improvement Work Complete

27 October 2011 11:00

NI Water is pleased to announce that the first phase of essential Water Mains Rehabilitation work has been completed which will bring immediate improvements to customers in the Rosslea area.

With winter fast approaching, this work is good news for the area as the new infrastructure will improve the long term reliability of water supply, drinking water quality and will also help reduce leakage.

NI Water’s Interim Chief Executive, Trevor Haslett, commented:

“Rosslea has a history of water supply difficulties; primarily around the fluctuation of water pressure. Phase one of the interim solution has now been completed, which will significantly improve the security of water supply in the area.

“While this is an interim solution NI Water would like to assure the community we are committed to providing a long term solution. We anticipate the next phase of work, to install a small booster pumping station will be completed before Christmas. Further work which will address some water quality issues, will follow.

Northern Ireland Water together with CCNI have made a commitment to our customers in Rosslea to resolve this problem and we would be happy to meet with them over the coming months to get feedback on the work completed to date and our future plan.”

Antoinette McKeown, Chief Executive at the Consumer Council added

"After we met with local residents in August NI Water promised to go and look at its plans again. NI Water did this and we are pleased that an interim solution was brought forward and has been completed. We hope that residents have noticed the improvement to their water supply. We will continue to monitor the progress of work by NI Water as a permanent solution is put in place. We will be organising a further public meeting to discuss the improvements made."
