Rosslea Water Supply Upgrade Work

13 September 2011 11:16

NI Water has announced work will begin on week commencing the 12th September to improve the water supply in the Rosslea area.

NI Water Engineers have identified an interim solution which will see the majority of customers in the Rosslea area enjoy a greater security of supply as early as mid October.

NI Water’s interim Chief Executive, Trevor Haslett, commented:

"Rosslea has a history of water supply difficulties; primarily around the fluctuation of water pressure. The interim solution we have identified is scheduled for completion by mid October, at which point the majority of customers in the area will see an immediate improvement to their water supply. It is anticipated the remaining customers will benefit from the improvement by December.

"While directional drilling will be used to minimise disruption, the nature of the work is such that some road closures will occur. Customers may also experience planned interruptions to their water supply during this period.

"While this is an interim solution addressing the supply issues in the area, NI Water would like to assure the community we are committed to providing a long term solution. We anticipate the next phase of work, which will address water quality issues, will commence early next year.

"As interim Chief Executive and together with CCNI we have made a commitment to our customers in Rosslea to resolve this problem and we would be happy to meet with them over the coming months to discuss the proposals, work completed to date and future plans in more detail."
