Sewer Improvement Work to Commence in Hillsborough

26 July 2011 10:47

NI Water is currently upgrading an essential pumping station within the grounds of Beechlawn School, Hillsborough. The Pumping Station is the largest station in the Hillsborough catchment and serves a local population of approximately 300 people. This work is now underway and is scheduled for completion in Autumn 2011.

Part of this scheme will involve additional sewer improvement work which involves laying a new pumping main along the Dromore Road from the front of Beechlawn School to Park Street. This work will get underway on the 1st August for a period of two weeks and could result in delays to traffic at peak times along the Dromore Road. Access to Park Street from the Dromore Road junction will also be restricted at times.

The new pumping station will bring significant benefits for the local population, helping to ensure that the sewerage infrastructure in the area complies with Northern Ireland Environment Agency and European regulations now and in the future.

NI Water and our contractor, Graham Construction, would like to thank the public in advance for their co-operation and patience during this essential improvement work and would like to assure customers that every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.

NI Water’s customer relations team can be contacted via Waterline on 08457 440088. Customers with any questions on the scheme should quote “Beechlawn Wastewater Pumping Station”.
