Sewer Improvement Work to commence in Bangor

NI Water is pleased to announce that an essential sewer improvement programme is about to get underway on the Bloomfield Road in Bangor. This £170,000 programme of work is good news for the area as these sewers will serve a new Olympic sized swimming pool which is being funded by the Department for Culture Arts and Leisure and North Down Borough Council.NI Water would like to advise the public that work is due to commence on this scheme on Monday 4th July with initial preparation work. The main programme of work will then get underway on Monday 18th July and will last until the end of September 2011.
The new sewers will be laid in sections from the junction with Jordan Avenue to the junction with the Gransha Road. In order to ensure the safety of the travelling public and our contractor, it will unfortunately be necessary to close Bloomfield Road to through traffic from Monday 18th July until Monday 26th September. Diversions will be signposted and access will be maintained for local residents. Please note that the section of work outside Glenlola Collegiate will be completed before the end of August to ensure that access is available to the school for the new term.
The scheme also requires some work to be completed on the Gransha Road near the South Eastern Regional College, however this will not commence until the works on Bloomfield Road have been completed and will be carried out under a traffic lights system.
NI Water and our contractor Farrans Utilities have carried out letter drops in each area to advise customers of this work. We would like to thank the public in advance for their co-operation and patience during this essential improvement work. There will be some disruption while this work takes place, but we would like to assure customers that every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
