NI Water Statement

The number of properties without water across the North has dropped to 799 NI Water has reported.

The main affected areas are parts of Cookstown, Dungannon, Newry and Warrenpoint, Some 500 staff remain on the ground dealing with those properties and NI Water is proactively contacting customers in affected areas. The focus is on continuing to work to repair bursts on the main water supply system which is impacting on reservoir levels and dealing with air locks in the system.

There still remains a considerable demand due to difficulties on the customer side and NI Water would re-iterate its appeal to customers to check their premises for any damage to pipes and repair these as soon as possible. We would also appeal to the public to refrain from using garden hoses and washing cars.

It is expected that the rotation of supply will continue for a limited period tonight. Details of areas to be impacted and timings will be available later this afternoon.

With schools due to return this week and next, NI Water is liaising closely with the Department of Education and local Education and Library Boards. We are confident there will be very few, if any, schools affected due to interruptions on the main water supply system. However, many schools have suffered damage to their internal systems and we understand these are currently being located and repaired.
