NI Water Statement

Some 5,200 properties remain off supply, NI Water has reported today Saturday 1 January 2011. This represents a slight decrease from yesterday and work is continuing to reduce the figure still further over the weekend. The worst affected areas are Cookstown, Hannahstown, Burren, and Warrenpoint.

NI Water has some 500 staff on the ground dealing with supply issues and also checking for leakage in private and commercial premises which remains a major cause of concern.

NI Water would re-iterate its appeal to customers to check their premises for any damage to pipes and repair these as soon as possible.

With an improving situation at reservoirs it is hoped that the rotational cuts which have been necessary in recent days will be reduced in number.
