Councillors View Progress at Drumaness Wastewater Treatment Works

Councillors from the Ballynahinch area have been given a tour of Drumaness Wastewater Treatment Works to view progress on Northern Ireland Water’s £1.2m upgrade scheme. The first phase of the extensive improvements, which have been designed to reduce out-of-sewer flooding in the area, will see the completion of a new inlet pumping station by the end of August.Other improvements include increased storm storage capacity at Spa, a new flow management regime for Spa and Magheratimpany and increased treatment capacity to meet stringent discharge standards set by the NI Environment Agency (NIEA).
