One Way Traffic System in Greater Belfast Area
15 February 2010 11:54
Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) is improving and upgrading the water supply infrastructure in the Greater Belfast area. As part of this process, NI Water will begin installing a new water-main on Bloomfield Avenue on Wednesday 17 February 2010. This work is expected to take approximately five weeks to complete. In order to ensure the safety of the traveling public, a one-way traffic system will be in place on Bloomfield Avenue for the duration of the works.
Traffic wishing to travel towards the Beersbridge Road will continue as normal. However traffic wishing to travel towards the city centre will be diverted via Beersbridge Road, Upper Newtownards Road and Newtownards Road.
Vehicles joining Bloomfield Ave from side roads will only be permitted to turn towards the Beersbridge Road. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times throughout the works period.
During the programme of work, some customers may experience temporary interruption to their water supply, however NI Water will issue advance notification and will keep customers fully informed during this process.
Some customers may also experience a water supply interruption for one full day, however if this is necessary, these customers will receive a separate notification telling them which day this will be.
A portion of the work will be carried out at night in order to avoid interrupting water supply for local businesses.
NI Water would like to thank the public in advance for their cooperation during this vital upgrading work and will make every effort will to keep noise disruption to a minimum.
