Transfer of Responsibilities from Steria to NI Water Completed

In January 2009, Northern Ireland Water announced plans to change the contractual arrangements with the Steria led Crystal Alliance consortium, which provides support in customer contact, billing and mobile work management services. The change in contractual arrangements was to allow NI Water to take direct management control of the specialist sub-contractors who perform the core customer service support activities, achieving financial savings and providing opportunities for further service development.

NI Water has now confirmed that its contract with Steria concluded on Friday 3rd July 2009 and the transfer of responsibilities from Steria to NI Water is now complete. Throughout the transfer process the priority of both companies was to ensure continuity of customer service and to avoid any disruption. NI Water is pleased to report that no interruption to customer service was experienced during the handover.

A spokesperson for NI Water commented:

“Our priority during the transfer period has been to ensure continuity of service and a seamless movement of responsibilities from Steria to NI Water. I am delighted to confirm that the transfer went as expected and that there was no adverse impact on Customer Services. We would like to thank all our contractors for their assistance during this process.

“Customer enquiries and service will continue to be provided from the established Customer Relations Centre which will now be under direct NI Water management. Therefore customers should continue to use the existing Waterline number 08457 440088 for all customer issues.

“We look forward to realising the benefits of this change over the coming months and years.”
