Foyle Street Network Upgrades

NI Water is due to commence an extensive upgrade of the water and wastewater network on Foyle Street between Shipquay Place and Water Street in summer 2024.

Project Overview

To facilitate the work, NI Water has been granted a license to use Foyle Street Car Park as a temporary bus facility. This will ensure that bus services are maintained while the upgrades on Foyle Street are ongoing.

Our appointed contractor, BSG Civil Engineering, will mobilise to the car park in May 2024 to reconfigure the area to house the required temporary bus stands. During these enabling works, bus services will operate as usual. Translink will communicate details on bus services.

The essential upgrade work will then commence around the end of July. The full-scale essential water and wastewater upgrades will require the closure of Foyle Street to through traffic for a period of around 12 months. (Some ancillary works at Water Street with localised traffic management may be required in advance of this).

The main work on Foyle Street has been planned in phases to help minimise disruption. Designated delivery drop-off points and taxi ranks will be available, with pedestrian access maintained at all times. A logistics officer/banksman will be in place to assist with deliveries.

Dedicated stakeholder liaison officers will be on hand throughout the works to keep businesses informed and further information will be available in local press and our social media channels as the work progresses.
